time lapsed

oh my, where has the time gone? so much has changed in the way we live since my last post.
i discovered the zero waste home blog and that started us on a pathway to reducing our waste. which has lead to simplifying and minimising things in our home and discovering a love of my small home. it has it's ups and downs, positives with living with less and negatives, like the spare mattress for sleepovers which i regret giving away!
zero waste and simplifying is quite a journey for a family of five but i am continuing the process, slowly. i hope to take up blogging again but in the meantime i am using instagram to capture our lives today so join me over there.

a portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2013 via che and fidel

levi:  is 1655 days old
ella:  is 3178 days old
paris: is 3521 days old

my favourite shot from last weeks 52 project. love the age when babies just want to hold onto their feet.

inspired by: olive us

i'm so inspired by gabrielle blair. she is a designer and a mother of 6, living in a farmhouse in the french countryside. gabrielle is also the creator of olive us, a weekly video series by her and her husband featuring their children. i sat up until last night watching them all! what i love about the videos is that they show values that they care about, like working hard, being kind, helping each other, being creative, problem solving and staying positive even when frustrating things happen. how to be 2 is one of my favourites, make sure you enjoy the others too.

water...was all we needed

a good bath cures all, doesn't it? especially after two full days of kindy. he was exhausted and wired at the same time. the house was far too noisy, so the bath was filled with warm water and bubbles. bubbles are the best. water was poured from one container to another, "bubble pots" were made and having him in there by himself without the girls was pure bliss for both of us. the bath changed the feel of our home straight way, the noise levels went down, girls calmed down and busied themselves without any hassles. we went about our evening very smoothly. yeah for warm baths!

inspired by: kara rosenlund

kara is a stylist, decorator and buyer of vintage wares for frankie, her caravan shop and online store. lives in queensland in an old white cottage and has some gorgeous pekin bantam chickens. she seems to be quite a baker too. go ahead and have a look at her blog and instagram, you'll find many reasons to hit the op shops and market stalls!

so, you know what i'll be doing this weekend? pulling out all the shells, candles, books and kitchen wares for little displays around the house and i'm going to seek out that french cooking book at the library tomorrow!

levi: looking to catch little fish
ella: wearing her favourite dress
paris: finally you see her beautiful face

i have found it difficult this last week for capturing their moments. two of them were sick and levi spent three days at kindy. there wasn't a great deal of time to engage them in something and i'm starting to get complaints from the eldest. but i will persevere and come up with some plans! wish me luck.
